How did you come up with the name of your new single “Pressure”?

Well first I wrote the bridge hook, “why can’t we just start this over” and wrote the whole song around that. So I started brainstorming things that could get me to that ending. Eventually I got to the idea of how sometimes you love someone, but there can be too much going on around you and how all the “pressure” can just make it too hard to manage. How you can’t stop thinking about how much easier things were when you first started hence, “why can’t we just start this over”.

Is there a specific person or event that inspired this track?

Actually no hahaha! While I have been in places like that in my life before, I just literally heard that bridge hook and knew I had to write something to it.

What sparked your aural addiction?

I’ve honestly just been singing for such a long time now.  I had a musical family growing up and I’ve always loved putting on a show, so it just came natural to me haha!

Who would you like to collaborate with?

Oh wow so many people!

Lauv is probably at the top of that list, I have a lot of respect for that guy. Andrew McMahon, I’ve loved him since Something Corperate. There’s William Singe who’s the guy that actually got me to start producing my own music. I NEED to have Pharrell write and produce on one of my tracks one day. Then Charlie Puth. Lot of respect for him as well, since he writes and produces all of his stuff too. You can’t forget DAFT PUNK!!! I grew up on them. Then there’s Ed Sheeran, Shawn Mendes, Damien Rice, John Mayer, Jack Black, Tiny Meat Gang, Twenty One Pilots. And that’s just the dudes.

Then there’s bülow who’s music I fell I love with when I found her Damaged Vol. 1 EP. Julia Michaels cause I honestly think she might be one of the greatest song writers right now. Then people like Tove Lo, Rebecca Black, Rachel Platten/whoever produced her recent album and Alessia Cara.

I just listen to a lot of music… hahaha

Are there any genres of music you would like to try or avoid?

I really like folk stuff like Damien Rice, City and Colour, early Bon Iver and Lewis Watson. I currently have song songs written and recorded in those styles that I would love to throw on my album.

Then I personally love rap when it comes from a really honest, heart broken place. Songs like Heartbeat by Childish Gambino (probably my favorite rapper), The Man by Ed Sheeran and I’d love to try out a song like that.

If/when you’re lacking inspiration, how do you kickstart your creativity?

Usually one of these things. Either I’ll just push through until I get something whether it’s good bad then come back and look at it later. If not that, I have a lot of half written songs, or recorded songs that need some more production work, and I’ll go work on that for bit. If neither of those works, I’ll go listen to music, watch movies, find poetry, look at art, go for walk. Just anything that I can try and find inspiration from.

What is currently on your playlist?

Well there’s always 80s tunes like I Wanna Dance With Somebody or Take On Me, then I love my friend Trøy’s new song Life, and 5SOS’s new single Want You Back.

How have your surroundings influenced your music?

Honestly, just growing up has really changed my music and the way I write.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself.

I really love Star Wars. I would love to be in one of the new upcoming movies/shows they have planned! Haha! I have just been a Star Wars fan for a long time now.

Anything you’d like to add?

I mainly just want to say a big thank you to everyone who’s been listening to my music and supporting me. It’s wild how many people have listened to Pressure since I put it out in the world. So just thank you everybody who’s been showing me support!
