Artist: Annachristie Sapphire
Single: "Cut The Line"
How did you come up with the name of your new
single “Cut The Line”?
Mmmh, it's one of the main lyrics in the chorus of the song, and it kind of encapsulates that meaning of the tune :)
Is there a specific person or event that inspired this track?
This song was started 10 years ago, originally inspired by someone named jelly boy the clown :) who is a good friend who I dated for about 3 minutes :) This song was finished 10 years later with the help of Tim Sonnefeld and Victoria Williams.
Which tends to come first for you, lyrics or melodies?
Sometimes the melody and sometimes the lyrics. There is no knowing how a song will come into existence :)
What sparked your aural addiction?
I suppose going back back back it was William Shakespeare that started my love for words and poetry, and rhythm. And my sisters Cassandra and Beatrice who got me into singing harmony at age 6.
Who would you like to collaborate with?
Johanna Warren, Julia Jacklin, Thom Yorke, David Byrne, Don Was, Jack White, Angel Olson, Patty Smyth.
Are there any genres of music you would like to try or avoid?
If/when you’re lacking inspiration, how do you kickstart your creativity?
Coffee guitar sacred morning time. I try to make that a habit.
What is currently on your playlist?
Julia Jacklin, Beach House, Dead Moon, X, Lola Kirke, Johanna Warren, Crow, Ron Gallo, Chris Kasper.
What is your favorite type of performance venue?
Oh man! I love playing at big open beautiful theaters but I also love a good generator show, alternative space...
