Artist: Conor Ren
Album: A Calling From The Shore
How did you come up with the name of your new album?
A Calling From The Shore is one of the first lyrics from the first track "The Coast" on the E.P. I thought that it represented the feel of the E.P.
What sparked your aural addiction?
Hearing my Dad play classical vinyls in the morning whilst cooking a fried breakfast at the weekend.
Who would you like to collaborate with?
I’d like to collaborate with Rosi Golan. She’s got a great writing style.
Are there any genres of music you would like to try or avoid?
I’m not a fan of electro / techno music. I can say with some degree of certainty that I will never make a techno record.
If/when you’re lacking inspiration, how do you kickstart your creativity?
I think that being outdoors is great for creativity so I like to go on walks. It also gives you a chance to be reflective and I think that’s great for creativity too.
What was the first album you ever bought?
I think it was Eminem’s first album?!
What is currently on your playlist?
I’m really in to The Bros Landreth at the moment. Joey Landreth is an amazing guitar player!
What is your favorite type of performance venue?
I love playing in cellars where you can still smell the damp on the old brick walls.
How have your surroundings influenced your music?
They influence me hugely. When I’m in a naturally beautiful place, I tend write more about the landscape and my relation to it.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself.
I like to sleep with my head under the pillow.
Anything you’d like to add?
I love playing house concerts so if anyone wants me to play at their house, then get in touch!
